Doubledays split doubleheader with Crosscutters

The Auburn Doubledays split a doubleheader against the Williamsport Crosscutters at Bowman Field in Williamsport Monday.

The Doubledays dropped the first game, 6-1, and topped the Crosscutters in the second game, 5-1. Auburn (7-13) finishes out the three-game set in Williamsport Tuesday.

In Game 1, Dylan Cozens put Williamsport ahead in the fourth inning with a solo home run, and the Crosscutters added three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Andrew Pullin had three hits and three RBI for Williamsport.

Auburn scattered seven hits, with Wilman Rodriguez and Austin Chubb each registering two. Chubb doubled and scored when Wilmer Difo grounded into a fielder's choice in the seventh for the Doubledays' lone run.

Auburn starter Deion Williams was tagged with the loss. He went 3 1/3 innings, and allowed two hits and one earned run. John Simms gave up seven hits and five runs over the next two innings, and Mike Mudron yielded one hit over 2/3 of an inning.

Jon Prosinski was credited with the win. He allowed four hits in five shutout innings.

In Game 2, the Crosscutters took a one-run lead in the second inning, but the Doubledays completed the comeback with five runs in the final three innings.

Greg Zebrack was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.

Cody Gunter started the rally with a solo homer in the fifth, and Zebrack put Auburn ahead when he drove in Brenton Allen with a single.

David Masters doubled to bring in Isaac Ballou, who had two hits, in the sixth and Zebrack hit a two-run home run in the seventh.

Austin Voth went four innings in his Doubledays debut. He allowed five hits and one unearned run. He struck out five.

Todd Simko was credited with the win. He allowed one hit and two walks in one inning. Justin Thomas tossed two hitless innings for the save.

Drew Anderson was tagged with the loss for the Crosscutters. He allowed four hits and two runs in five innings.
